WHAT'S NEW ON THE SQUARE

 

Coyoacan Taqueria & Brew has completely renovated the space in the northwest quadrant, where North Moreland ends, 13133 Shaker Square. (Yes, Balaton Restaurant was there for many years and before them Bunce Brothers, a men's clothing store.) 

Its website (link) says OPENING SOON   Here's what an owner said on April 20th:

We still don't have an opening date but it will probably be next month (May)

North Union Farmers Market reopens

It's Shaker Square's biggest event, attracting many hundreds of shoppers for locally-grown food, for so many weeks. It opened for 2025 on Saturday, April 5th.  Will be open every Saturday morning, from 8 am to noon.

Cafe Indigo has opened in the old DEWEYS space 

 

A good coffee house, as Dewey Forward's place was for many years, can be the heart of a neighborhood. Melissa Hirsch, a creative local entrepreneur who operates Cafe Unbar on Larchmere, has opened Cafe Indigo in the old DEWEYS space at 13201 Shaker Square.

The new cafe offers ice cream in addition to coffee and other traditional cafe items, such as sandwiches, soups and salads.
