Mark Naymik is an experienced and "savvy"
journalist - one of the many reasons the Plain Dealer is
important to this city. Here's what PolitiFact.com says
about him.

Mark called me earlier this week. He told me
he had already spoken to SHAD, with the head of the Buckeye area
Community Development Corporation, and Peter Rubin. He knew much about our area and our
Cleveland city councilman. His report appeared on the first page of
the Metro section of today's PD
(Sunday, 2/24/13).
I'm fine with
how I was quoted in his story. In a few words it summarized much of what I
had said in our conversation, including:
- Security. We who
care for the Square are weary of seeing a
Cleveland police presence only after an incident. Example:
after a robbery a few years ago we saw
police officers walking the Square. A few
days later they were not to be seen.
- Parking Lots At
Larchmere, Coventry Village and Cedar Lee
you can see how Shaker Heights and Cleveland
Heights help with parking lots and
structures. Cleveland has done nothing -
unless you consider new parking meters and a
traffic enforcement camera to be helpful.
- Parking Meters.
Shaker Heights has removed its
meters on Larchmere. Cleveland Heights
offers free short-term parking on Coventry
and Cedar Lee. But Cleveland offers nothing.
(Six years ago our councilman Kenneth Johnson
told the SHAD annual meeting that he was
working on my suggestion for free short-term
parking. We are still
waiting! Parking meters with 15 or 30
minutes of free parking could help stores
and promote "take-out" business at restaurants from Shaker Square west to Kamm's
Corners.)

What can you do?
- You can express your
concerns to the Coral Company whose offices
are now at Shaker Square, above CVS.
Here is their Contact Us page.
- Contact Ward 4 councilman
Kenneth Johnson.
Here is his web page. Call him: my
experience suggests that he does not read
email.
- Keep coming to the
Square. Support our stores and restaurants.
